Job description
Main Role and Responsibilities • Fee Collection: Receive and record tuition, registration, and other school fee payments, issuing official receipts. • Daily Transactions: Maintain accurate daily records of all school income and expenses (petty cash, operational costs, etc.). • Payroll Support: Assist in preparing monthly staff payroll and calculating necessary deductions (Income Tax, Pension contributions). • Financial Reporting: Prepare monthly income and expense reports for the school administration and board. • Bank Management: Handle bank deposits and perform monthly bank reconciliations. • Auditing Support: Keep all financial documents, vouchers, and ledgers organized and ready for annual internal and external audits. Required Skills • Education: Diploma or Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Accounting and Finance, or a related field. • Experience: 1 to 3 years of working experience as an accountant, preferably within an educational institution or service sector. • Software Knowledge: Good computer skills, including Microsoft Excel and familiarity with local accounting software or Peachtree. • Compliance: Basic understanding of Ethiopian tax laws (VAT, Income Tax) and pension regulations. • Integrity: High level of honesty, confidentiality, and attention to detail. Preferred Qualifications • Experience working specifically in a school or kindergarten environment. • Good communication skills in both Amharic and English.
