Assistant Resident Engineer (ARE) – Roles & Responsibilities 1. Construction Supervision • Assist the Resident Engineer in supervising day-to-day construction activities. • Monitor contractor performance and ensure work is carried out according to approved drawings, specifications, and contract requirements. • Verify that construction methods comply with project standards and safety regulations. 2. Quality Control & Assurance • Inspect construction works and materials to ensure compliance with quality standards. • Witness site tests, material testing, and quality inspections. • Report defects and monitor corrective actions taken by contractors. 3. Site Monitoring • Conduct regular site inspections and prepare inspection reports. • Monitor project progress against approved schedules. • Identify potential delays and recommend corrective measures. 4. Documentation & Reporting • Maintain accurate records of site activities, inspections, and progress. • Prepare daily, weekly, and monthly progress reports. • Review contractor submissions, shop drawings, method statements, and material approvals. 5. Health, Safety & Environmental Compliance • Ensure compliance with health, safety, and environmental (HSE) requirements. • Participate in safety inspections and site audits. • Report unsafe practices and recommend improvements. 6. Coordination & Communication • Coordinate with contractors, subcontractors, consultants, and project stakeholders. • Attend site meetings and assist in preparing meeting minutes. • Facilitate resolution of technical and construction-related issues. 7. Measurement & Payment Verification • Verify quantities of completed works. • Review contractors' payment applications and supporting documents. • Assist in evaluating variations and claims. 8. Technical Support • Provide engineering support and guidance on site. • Review construction drawings and identify discrepancies. • Assist in resolving design and construction issues in coordination with the design team. Key Requirements • B.Sc . Degree in Civil Engineering. • Minimum 2 years of experience in construction supervision or infrastructure projects. • Knowledge of construction standards, specifications, and quality control procedures. • Proficiency in engineering software such as AutoCAD, Civil 3D, and MS Office. • Strong communication, reporting, and problem-solving skills.
