Application for Dreaming Amharic – Content Creator & On-Camera Storyteller (Remote) About the Role Dreaming Amharic is a digital platform teaching Amharic to the international diaspora using Comprehensible Input (CI)—an engaging methodology focused on immersive storytelling, expressions, and visual context rather than dry grammar drills. We are seeking three charismatic, high-energy, on-camera Content Creators based in Ethiopia to join our launch team. Your main role is to conceptualize and film simple, entertaining situational stories completely in Amharic. We value natural storytelling, expressive personalities, and strong screen presence over a formal education background. Who We Are Looking For • Background: Trained theater actors, public speakers, or creative vloggers with proven screen presence. You must be naturally outgoing, charming, and comfortable using exaggerated body language, facial expressions, and physical props to convey meaning without speaking English. • Language: Native Amharic speaker with clear diction. An intermediate level of spoken English is required to collaborate effectively with our US-based founder. • Writing: Comfortable drafting simple, creative lesson outlines or scripts based on everyday life themes. The Core Skill: Pacing Adaptability The most critical skill is the ability to dynamically modify speech patterns based on the student's learning level, carefully controlling vocabulary complexity, sentence length, and pacing across three tiers: • Superbeginner Tier: ~30% of native speed; very short sentences; heavy reliance on whiteboard drawings and physical props. • Beginner Tier: ~50% speed; sequential daily stories with intentional, clear articulation. • Intermediate Tier: ~80% speed; a patient, natural native pace focused on pure spoken cultural storytelling. Technical & Hardware Requirements Because this is a fully remote role dependent on high-quality digital delivery, you must meet these baselines: • Camera: iPhone 11 or later, a mid-to-high tier Android device (Android 11+, e.g., Samsung Galaxy S20, Google Pixel 5+), or a professional mirrorless/DSLR studio camera setup (Sony, Canon, Fujifilm). • Lighting: Your face must be clearly lit (via great natural front-lighting or a basic ring/studio light) so students can see your lip movements and expressions. • Environment: A clean, visually tidy, and quiet indoor filming space free from heavy ambient street noise, wind distortion, or severe room echo. • Audio & Connectivity: Crisp, clear audio (willingness to use a company-provided external lapel mic). A reliable internet connection with $\ge$ 10 Mbps upload speed, or willingness to use our provided monthly $20 data allowance for a high-speed package. • Digital Literacy: Comfort using Google Drive or Dropbox to consistently upload large raw video files, organize folders by difficulty tier, and title assets based on our content calendar. Video Cover Letter To apply, submit your resume alongside a short 90-to-120 second video audition recorded on your phone. In your audition video: • First 30 seconds: Introduce yourself in English, sharing your creative background or theater experience. • Remaining time: Tell a very simple story completely in Amharic (e.g., losing your car keys or going to a market). Key Requirement: During the Amharic story, you must speak at 30% of your normal speed, look directly at the lens, and use heavy facial expressions, hand gestures, and nearby objects to show how you communicate meaning without translation. Please upload your video to Google Drive, Dropbox, or YouTube share the link with us (ensure permissions are set to "Anyone with the link can view") or attach the video in the provided space a . We look forward to seeing your screen presence!
