Role Overview: We are seeking a skilled and driven GPS Installer Technician who will be responsible for the professional installation, configuration, and maintenance of GPS tracking devices and telematics equipment in a variety of vehicles (light, medium, heavy duty). This is a hands-on role, requiring strong vehicle electrical knowledge, excellent customer service, and the ability to work independently in the field. Key Responsibilities: -Install GPS tracking and telematics hardware (wiring, antennas, modules, power supply) in vehicles according to company standards and client requirements. -Test and verify all installations: ensure device communicates correctly, GPS signal is optimal, speed-limiter (if applicable) is configured, and data flows to back-office systems. -Diagnose and troubleshoot installation issues (electrical faults, wiring errors, connectivity issues, device malfunctions). -Maintain accurate records of installations, service calls, and parts usage. -Communicate effectively with customers onsite: explain device operation, answer questions, provide basic user orientation. -Maintain tools and vehicle in clean, professional condition. -Adhere to company safety protocols, vehicle electrical wiring standards, and fleet policies. -Work collaboratively with dispatch/field-coordinator to schedule installations efficiently, meet daily quotas, write service reports. -Occasionally perform removal or upgrade of installed units, support retrofit installations. -Travel to client sites (local/regional), may include nights or weekends depending on client schedules. Qualifications & Skills: -High school diploma or equivalent; technical training in automotive electronics, telematics or related field preferred. -Proven experience installing vehicle tracking devices, telematics units or GPS hardware in a fleet or installation environment. -Strong knowledge of vehicle electrical systems (12 V/24 V), wiring, fuses, relays, power distribution. -Comfort with reading wiring diagrams, using voltmeters/multimeters, diagnosing wiring faults. -Ability to work independently in a vehicle setting, climbing in/out of engine bays, under dashboards, mounting hardware. -Excellent attention to detail and documentation skills. -Good customer service skills: ability to interact professionally with clients onsite. -Preferably, experience with fleet telematics, speed-limiter systems, or asset-tracking solutions is a plus.
