To support our continued growth, we are looking for an experienced and results-oriented Import & Export Officer. The successful candidate will be responsible for movement of goods across international borders, prepares shipping documentation, ensures compliance with import/export regulations, coordinates with suppliers, freight forwarders, customs authorities and contributing to the achievement of the company's strategic objectives. This role requires a strong Negotiation and supplier relationship management, Coordination of suppliers, freight forwarders, customs authorities, and financial institutions, Proficiency in the Ethiopian Customs One Window System, logistics cost analysis and cost optimization the successful candidate will join a dedicated team of more than 120 employees who contribute their skills, knowledge, and energy with great enthusiasm. Position in organization: - Reporting to: General Manager Responsibilities: - • Coordinate import and export shipments from origin to destination. • Prepare and review shipping documents such as: Commercial invoices, Packing lists, Bills of lading, Certificates of origin, Import/export permits. • Ensure compliance with international trade regulations, customs requirements, and Incoterms. • International trade knowledge. • Liaise with customs, freight forwarders, shipping lines, and government sector. • Track shipments and resolve delays or customs clearance issues. • Calculate shipping costs, duties, taxes, and other logistics expenses. • Maintain accurate records of all import and export transactions. • Verify tariff classifications (HS Codes), customs documentation and Clearance procedures • Coordinate with production, logistic, finance and sales departments. • Negotiate freight rates and delivery schedules with logistics providers • Monitor inventory related to incoming and outgoing international shipments. • Ensure compliance with company policies and quality standards • Manage banking documentation related to imports and exports, including Letters of Credit (L/C) and bank guarantees, and foreign exchange documentation • Prepare reports on ongoing process, shipping activities, costs, and delivery performance. Required knowledge & skills : - • Bachelor's Degree Marketing Management, Business Management, Logistics & Supply Chain Management or a related field. • Minimum of 5 years of progressively responsible experience in import and export operations • Strong knowledge of international trade regulations and Incoterms. • understanding of Ethiopian customs laws, procedures, and import/export regulations. • Good understanding of banking processes related to international trade, including Letters of Credit (L/C), and foreign exchange procedures. • Knowledge of international shipping documentation and customs clearance requirements. • Understanding of logistics, freight forwarding, transportation, and supply chain management principles. • Negotiation and supplier relationship management. • Coordination of suppliers, freight forwarders, customs authorities, and financial institutions. • Proficiency in the Ethiopian Customs One Window System. • cost optimization. • Microsoft Office applications (Excel, Word, Outlook) skill. • Excellent English Language skill. Preferred Profile The ideal candidate has strong knowledge of international trade regulations, Incoterms, and Ethiopian customs procedures. They have proven experience managing end-to-end import and export operations, including shipping documentation and customs clearance. They ensure accurate tariff classification (HS Codes) and full compliance with applicable import and export regulations.
