To support our continued growth, we are looking for an experienced and results-oriented Health & Safety Officer. The successful candidate will be responsible for ensuring the health and safety of employees, companies, and visitors within a workplace contributing to the achievement of the company's strategic objectives. This role requires a safety policies and procedures, conduct safety induction training for new employee, regular safety inspections and risk assessments and respond to emergency situations the successful candidate will join a dedicated team of more than 120 employees who contribute their skills, knowledge, and energy with great enthusiasm. Position in organization: - Reporting to: General Manager Responsibility: - Develop, update, and enforce safety policies and procedures. Communicate safety guidelines and standards across department. Serve as a member of or coordinate the health and safety committee within the organization Provide management with reports and recommendations on safety improvements. Communicate safety guidelines and standards across department Ensure the proper use and maintenance of safety equipment and PPE. Prepare and submit accident reports to regulatory bodies and responsible manager. Respond to emergency situations, coordinate evacuations, and manage first-aid response Investigate accidents and near-miss incidents, identify root causes, and implement corrective actions Also to make a report of all accidents and incidents Organize and deliver safety training for all employees on topics like fire safety, first-aid, personal protective equipment (PPE), and emergency procedures. Conduct safety induction training for new employee Ensure that the workplace complies with local, state and federal safety regulations. Monitor changes in safety laws and ensure the organization adheres to them. Conduct regular safety inspections and risk assessments to identify hazards. Implement corrective and preventive safety measures. Liaise with external safety inspectors or auditors when necessary. Promote a culture of continuous safety improvement by encouraging employees to report hazards. Stay up to date on industry best practices and advancements in health and safety. Required knowledge & skills : - bachelor's degree Environmental and Occupational health and safety Minimum of 4+ years of progressively responsible experience in Occupational health and safety officer Knowledge of Ethiopian & international occupational health and safety laws, regulations, and standards. Experience in conducting workplace safety inspections and risk assessments. Knowledge of emergency response procedures, fire safety, and first aid. Proficiency in accident investigation and corrective action implementation. Ability to develop and deliver safety training programs. Familiarity with Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) requirements and safety management systems Microsoft Office applications (Excel, Word, Outlook) skill. Excellent English Language skill. Competences: - Strong understanding of occupational health and safety principles and practices. Excellent hazard identification, risk assessment, and problem-solving skills. Effective training facilitation skills. Strong investigative and analytical abilities for incident reporting and root cause analysis. Good organizational, planning, and record-keeping skills. High level of integrity, attention to detail, and commitment to safety. Preferred Profile The ideal candidate should hold a bachelor's degree in occupational health and safety. The candidate should have 4+ years of relevant health and safety experience, preferably in manufacturing, or a similar operational environment, and certification in First Aid and Fire Safety is desirable. They should demonstrate strong interpersonal and communication skills, the ability to manage multiple priorities and emergency situations, and a proven commitment to fostering a positive safety culture and continuous improvement.
