About the Position KBEK Trading & Construction PLC is seeking a motivated and detail-oriented Intermediate Office Engineer to join its Head Office Engineering Team. The successful candidate will support tendering, project planning, quantity surveying, contract administration, procurement coordination, and technical documentation for the company's construction projects. Key Responsibilities • Prepare Bills of Quantities (BOQs), cost estimates, and quantity take-offs from drawings. • Prepare tender documents, technical proposals, and financial bid documents. • Analyze tender documents, specifications, and contract conditions. • Prepare unit rate analyses and cost breakdowns. • Review architectural, structural, electrical, and sanitary drawings for completeness and coordination. • Prepare project schedules, work programs, and resource plans using project management software. • Monitor project progress against approved schedules and budgets. • Prepare project reports, payment certificates, variation orders, and claims. • Coordinate with site engineers, consultants, subcontractors, and suppliers. • Assist in procurement by preparing material specifications, quantity schedules, and technical evaluations. • Review shop drawings, material submittals, and method statements. • Maintain proper documentation of contracts, drawings, correspondence, and project records. • Support project planning, budgeting, and cost control activities. • Assist in preparing project completion reports and as-built documentation. • Perform other engineering duties assigned by management. Required Qualifications • Bachelor's Degree in Civil Engineering or Construction Technology & Management (CTM). • 3–6 years of relevant professional experience. • Minimum 2 years of experience in office engineering, quantity surveying, or tender preparation . • Experience working with Grade 1–3 contractors is highly desirable. Required Technical Skills • Strong knowledge of Ethiopian construction specifications and contract administration. • Experience in BOQ preparation and quantity take-off. • Good understanding of project planning and scheduling. • Knowledge of construction methods and materials. • Familiarity with procurement processes and cost control. • Ability to review technical drawings and identify discrepancies. Software Requirements Applicants should have good working knowledge of: • AutoCAD • Microsoft Excel (Advanced) • Microsoft Project • Primavera P6 (preferred) • Microsoft Word and PowerPoint • Quantity surveying and estimating software (an advantage) Core Competencies • Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills. • Strong attention to detail and accuracy. • Effective communication and report-writing skills. • Ability to work under pressure and meet strict tender deadlines. • Strong organizational and time-management skills. • Teamwork and coordination skills. • High integrity, accountability, and professionalism.
