About the Position KBEK Trading & Construction is seeking a highly competent, ethical, and experienced Senior Accountant to lead the company's accounting operations and ensure compliance with Ethiopian accounting standards, tax regulations, and financial reporting requirements. The successful candidate will play a key role in managing financial records for construction projects, imports, machinery rental operations, and the company's general business activities. Key Responsibilities • Lead and supervise the day-to-day accounting activities of the company. • Prepare monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements. • Manage the company's general ledger and ensure accurate recording of all financial transactions. • Prepare and review payment vouchers, journal entries, and bank reconciliations. • Monitor project costs, budgets, work-in-progress (WIP), and job cost reports. • Ensure proper accounting of construction contracts, retention money, advances, and subcontractor payments. • Prepare and submit VAT, Withholding Tax, Payroll Tax, Pension, and other statutory reports on time. • Coordinate annual audits and liaise with external auditors and government authorities. • Monitor accounts receivable and accounts payable. • Prepare cash flow forecasts and monitor the company's liquidity. • Maintain fixed asset and inventory registers. • Ensure compliance with Ethiopian tax laws, ERCA regulations, and IFRS where applicable. • Assist management in budgeting, financial planning, and investment decisions. • Develop and strengthen internal controls to safeguard company assets. • Supervise junior accountants and provide technical guidance. • Prepare management reports and financial analyses for decision-making. • Perform any other finance-related duties assigned by management. Required Qualifications • Bachelor's Degree in Accounting, Accounting & Finance, or a related field. • Professional certifications such as ACCA, CPA, or equivalent are an added advantage. • Minimum 5 years of relevant accounting experience, with at least 2 years in a senior accounting position . • Previous experience in a construction company is mandatory . • Experience with import, procurement, and machinery rental accounting is highly desirable. Required Skills • Strong knowledge of Ethiopian tax laws and financial regulations. • Excellent understanding of construction project accounting. • Strong budgeting and financial reporting skills. • Experience preparing audited financial statements. • Proficiency in accounting software (Peachtree, QuickBooks, ERP systems, or similar). • Advanced Microsoft Excel skills. • Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities. • High level of integrity, confidentiality, and professionalism. • Excellent communication and leadership skills. • Ability to work under pressure and meet strict deadlines.
