Position Details • Position: Senior Geologist (2 Positions) • Duty Station: Addis Ababa Head Office, with frequent travel to quarry and project sites • Employment Type: Full-time • Salary: Attractive and negotiable based on qualifications and experience • Application Deadline: June 25, 2026 Job Summary The Senior Geologist will be responsible for geological exploration, mineral resource evaluation, quarry development support, and geological data analysis to ensure the sustainable supply of raw materials for cement production. The role involves field investigations, reserve estimation, geological mapping, drilling supervision, and collaboration with mining, production, and project teams. Key Responsibilities Geological Exploration and Resource Evaluation • Conduct geological investigations, mapping, sampling, and mineral resource assessments. • Evaluate limestone, clay, gypsum, and other raw material deposits required for cement production. • Support exploration programs and reserve estimation activities. Quarry and Mining Support • Provide geological input for quarry planning and mining operations. • Monitor deposit quality, extraction activities, and resource utilization. • Support mine development and long-term raw material planning. Data Analysis and Reporting • Analyze geological data and prepare technical reports, maps, and resource estimates. • Maintain geological databases and exploration records. • Provide recommendations to support operational and strategic decisions. Compliance and Stakeholder Coordination • Ensure compliance with applicable mining, environmental, and regulatory requirements. • Coordinate with engineers, mining personnel, consultants, and regulatory authorities as required. Requirements Education • Bachelor's Degree in Geology, Applied Geology, Earth Sciences, or a related field. • A Master's Degree in a relevant discipline will be an advantage. Experience • Minimum of 8 years of relevant professional experience in geological exploration, mining, quarry operations, cement manufacturing, or related industries. At least 2 years in a supervisory or senior-level geologist position. • Experience in limestone exploration, quarry development, or cement raw material evaluation is highly preferred. Technical Skills • Strong knowledge of geological mapping, sampling, drilling, and resource estimation techniques. • Experience with geological data interpretation and reporting. • Proficiency in relevant geological software (e.g., Surfer, RockWorks, and GIS tools) and Microsoft Office applications. • Knowledge of mining and quarry development practices is an advantage. Competencies • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills. • Excellent report-writing and communication abilities. • Ability to work independently and manage field assignments. • Willingness to travel frequently to quarry and project sites. • Strong teamwork and coordination skills.
