About the Role The In-House Counsel will serve as the primary legal advisor for the organization and its affiliated subsidiaries, providing legal guidance across corporate governance, contracts, regulatory compliance, and risk management. This role requires close collaboration with senior leadership to protect the organization's interests while supporting its business objectives. Report Line: Chief Executive Officer Key Responsibilities • Draft, review, and negotiate contracts, agreements, and legal documents across business units • Advise leadership on corporate governance, regulatory compliance, and risk exposure • Manage relationships with external legal counsel and regulatory bodies • Monitor changes in relevant laws and regulations and assess their impact on the business • Support due diligence for partnerships, investments, and business expansion • Handle dispute resolution, litigation management, and legal risk mitigation • Ensure company policies and operations comply with Ethiopian law and applicable international standards • Advise on intellectual property, data protection, and employment law matters • Prepare legal opinions and briefings for the CEO and executive team • Maintain organized records of contracts, corporate filings, and legal correspondence Qualifications • LLB degree • Minimum 1 year of experience in corporate law, preferably in-house or at a reputable law firm • Strong knowledge of Ethiopian commercial, corporate, and labor law • Experience with multi-sector or multi-subsidiary organizations is an advantage • Excellent drafting, negotiation, and communication skills • Ability to work independently and manage multiple priorities under tight deadlines • High standard of discretion and professional integrity Key Attributes • Sound business judgment paired with strong legal reasoning • Comfortable advising executive leadership directly • Detail-oriented with strong organizational skills • Proactive in identifying legal risks before they escalate
