Job description
Identify suitable locally available feed ingredients, including maize, soybean products, noug cake, wheat bran, limestone, DCP, salt, oil and feed additives. Identify and evaluate reliable Ethiopian suppliers, including price, consistency, minimum order quantity and delivery arrangements. Develop cost-effective formulas for pullets, pre-lay birds and commercial layers at different production stages. Arrange representative sampling and laboratory testing for nutrients, moisture, aflatoxin and other quality risks. Confirm that diets meet energy, digestible amino-acid, calcium, phosphorus, sodium, vitamin and mineral requirements. Review premixes and supplements and provide correct inclusion and handling instructions. Establish procedures for receiving, storing, grinding, weighing, mixing, mash or pellet production, cooling and packaging. Set appropriate particle size, moisture, conditioning temperature and pellet-quality specifications. Develop quality-control procedures, production records and ingredient-acceptance standards. Train staff and monitor flock performance, including feed intake, body weight, egg production, egg weight and shell quality.
